Years 4–6

Key Stage 2 Tuition

Building strong foundations in Maths and English, while nurturing confidence and curiosity.

Proven & Personal

Supporting Strong Starts in English and Maths

At Ignito, we begin working with students from Year 4 upwards, helping them build confidence, skills, and a positive mindset toward learning – early enough to make a real difference, but mature enough to benefit from structured tuition.

Our Key Stage 2 sessions are designed to give students a solid foundation in core subjects, with teaching that is clear, supportive, and appropriately paced for their year group. Each group is formed to ensure students are working at a similar stage, allowing our tutors to focus on what that group needs most.

Core Skills. Clear Progress.

What Our KS2 Tuition Covers

We offer focused group tuition in both Maths and English, aligned with the national curriculum and structured to reinforce key knowledge and skills

In English, we cover:

Reading comprehension strategies

Vocabulary development and spelling

Grammar and punctuation

Planning, structuring, and improving writing

Confidence in verbal communication

Group reading and analysis of texts such as Matilda, Beowulf, and Harry Potter, using accessible formats like graphic novels

In Maths, we support:

Times tables and mental arithmetic

Written methods for the four operations

Fractions, decimals, percentages, and problem solving

Measurement, shapes, data handling, and reasoning

Core skills revision using Tackling Tables cards and worksheets, a trusted tool developed by our predecessor

As students move towards Year 6, our focus includes structured SATs preparation, using past paper practice and question-specific strategies to help students feel confident and prepared for their end-of-primary assessments.

Each session also includes a weekly task or homework activity, designed to reinforce key knowledge or test understanding of the most recent lesson. These tasks give students the opportunity to revisit concepts independently – and give parents reassurance that consistent progress is being made.

Making It Memorable

How We Teach

We use a wide range of hands-on resources and practical tools to make learning visual, active, and memorable.

In English, our students enjoy:

Place value counters to build number fluency

Fraction manipulatives to visibly demonstrate fraction concepts and relationships

Clocks to support understanding of time

Tackling Tables resources to develop rapid recall of number facts

In Maths, we support:

Bananagrams and word games to build spelling and vocabulary

Graphic novels and real texts to make reading enjoyable and meaningful

Interactive sessions using mini whiteboards, colour-printed worksheets, and buzzers
for quiz-style learning and recall practice

We also bring a little fun to our sessions, especially for younger students. In our in-person sessions, students receive stamps for effort and participation, which they can exchange for prizes from our much-loved prize shelf. We also provide a small refreshment break mid-lesson, with a choice of mini chocolate bar such as KitKats, Penguins, or Blue Ribands – a simple treat that helps keep energy and focus high in the evening after a school day.

Our classroom environment is structured, supportive, and focused on making learning both engaging and effective. We create a space where students can contribute, collaborate, and grow in confidence week by week.

It Starts with Self-Belief

Confidence Comes First

These years are key to shaping how students feel about learning – and we’re committed to making sure they feel positive, capable, and motivated. By focusing on group dynamics, shared wins, and consistent encouragement, we help students grow in both skill and self-belief.

Simple. Structured. Supportive.
